Case Study: Marina Bay Sands (MBS), is a legendary integrated resort in Singapore with iconic design and famous sky park. The three wings hotel have 2,561 rooms and suites, big convention and exhibition facilities, art and Science museum, two large theatres, world class "celebrity chef" restaurants, two floating Crystal Pavilions, an ice skating ring, and the world's largest atrium casino. In 2012 it was the most profitable single property in the world.
The COO of MBS, Mr. Benny Zin took over in April 2011 after a few rounds of leadership changes during a challenging time of opening and running a new team. He is a leader who cares from his heart about the well being and happiness of his employees. He combines optimism with critical thinking, striving for excellence in delivering SOPs and constant improvement. To break the glass ceiling of technical good service, he strongly believes in creating a happy environment with great internal relationship where talent can flourish and peak perform.
At first, he had arranged for us to present for his team and had internal discussion, allowing his team to be part of the strategic decision, to add meaningful care and joy as core values.
Benny led by example and participated fully at the first pilot run. Walk the talk and role model in everyday practice genuine care and positive attitude.
Following its' success, Benny came to open each of the workshop and came back to close them and take part at the graduation ceremony. His commitment and dedication, gave a signal to the 250 top leaders of MBS that Joy and Care are core values to manage and role model to reach out everyone in the organisation. Benny had created the "Gratzie Event" and recognition program where employees are recognized on their achievements.
